Our Scripture reading today is Luke 11:14-15, "And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered. But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils."
While He was made in the likeness of men, the Lord Jesus still had miracle working power while He walked on this earth. He became man without ceasing to be God. The power that Jesus had was given to Him by His Father. Jesus constantly used His power to change the lives of those in need. A man who cannot speak is delivered from a devil and immediately he is able to speak. You would think there would be great rejoicing, but in this case there was an accusation. “It is by no mean uncommon for people to resort to slander when honest opposition is helpless.” (Barclay)
God is still working miracles in our lives today. Instead of trying to always explain them away as something that just happened, we ought to take time to praise God for His mighty works. There is no such thing as luck and chance for the born again believer. We should expect God to work and then praise Him when He does. To God be all the glory.
