Our Scripture reading today is 2 Corinthians 1:3-5.
Verse 3, "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;"
Our Heavenly Father is the God of all comfort. No doubt, we have all needed comforting before and we will need it again in the future. The word comfort in this verse means a calling near. When we think that God is far away in a time of trouble or difficulty, He is actually right near us. Psalm 119:151, "Thou art near, O LORD; and all thy commandments are truth."
The word, comfort, also carries with it the idea of strengthening and helping. As He comforts us in our difficulties, we are strengthened in our faith and able to keep pressing forward for His glory. It matters not how many times we have sought His comfort, He will always have more. Notice the three letter word, "ALL." He is the source of the comforting and strengthening you need today and this source will never run dry.
