Our Scripture reading today is Luke 2:1-5.
Verse 4, "And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)"
The journey to Bethlehem was approximately 80 miles. It would have been a long and difficult trip especially for someone who was expecting a baby at any moment. The trip also took a great amount of time and expense. Joseph was not the One behind all of the planning to get him and Mary to Bethlehem. God made a way for them to get there. We know that God was working on both ends. He always does!
Micah 5:2, "But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting."
God is always working whether we can see it or not. It is our responsibility to yield our will over to His. The plans he has for our lives are always for our good. Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."
