Our Scripture reading today is Romans 1:20-22.
Verse 21, "Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened."
What does it mean to give glory to God? In this passage of Scripture, it is clear that the unbeliever does not glorify God. When we glorify God we are praising and magnifying Him. Just because we are saved does not mean we will no longer battle pride. I think most would agree that overcoming pride is a daily battle. In 1 Corinthians 15:31, the Apostle Paul said, "I die daily." Paul had to die to what Paul wanted and desired. Our flesh would much rather be praised and magnified.
God saved us because He loves us and to bring Him glory. The way we treat others should be a reflection of Who lives in us. There are definitely times we have either wanted the glory for ourselves or done something that brought shame to His name. Our redeemed lives are to bring Him glory and praise every day.
Your Friend,
Pastor
Do you remember when, you were drowning in the sea of sin
Going down for the last time, when you called upon His name
He reached down his nailed scarred hand, and He lifted you out
So remember where you were back then and thank Him for where you are now.
Chorus:
Give Him the Glory for what He's done in your life
He took you from sin and strife and gave a new start
He took your broken life and made you complete
So take off those crowns of Glory and cast them at the Saviours feet
Do you remember when with all your heart you longed to serve Him
But you didn't think that Jesus could use someone like you
But look how He's used your life, since He brought you out
So remember where you were back then and thank him for where you are now!
