Our Scripture reading today is Exodus 32:1-4.
Verse 1, "And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him."
Every time I read this passage it amazes me how quickly the people turned on Moses and more importantly turned on God. It might be a good idea to review all that God had done for them in delivery them from Egypt and even the crossing of the Red Sea.
As we consider these few verses of Scripture, I see a few principles that we can apply to our lives today. The first, is we must be willing to wait on God's timing. His plan and the timing of His plan are perfect. In the moment, it is not always easy to accept God's timing. Why hasn't God answered my prayer yet? When will God provide? God does things on and with purpose. Second, we need to trust God completely. God has a perfect record. He has never failed and is not going to start with us. Trust Him today with whatever is concerning you. Lastly, we must keep our eyes on Him. The verse quotes the people as saying, "...this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt..." Yes, God used Moses to lead them, but God is the ONE Who delivered them from bondage. Mankind will let us down and disappoint us. We must keep our eyes and attention directed toward Him.
