Good Morning,
Our Scripture reading today is Luke 23:34, "Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots."
What an amazing statement the Lord Jesus makes from the cross. "Father, forgive them." This is the sinless Son of God wanting forgiveness for those who are crucifying Him. By the way, this includes you and me. Our sin put Him on the cross. Our sin put the crown of thorns on His head. We should have been on that cross. I should have been crucified. What love would offer us forgiveness. What love would offer a lost world forgiveness.
Praise the Lord for His forgiveness! Now, we need to be willing to offer the same forgiveness to others. Are we withholding forgiveness? Are we allowing bitterness to take root in our lives? The cure for this is to look to the cross and see how much we were forgiven by the sinless Saviour.
I Should Have Been Crucified
I was guilty with nothing to say
They were coming to take me away
Then a voice from Heaven was heard that said
"Let him go and take me instead"
But I should have been crucified
(I should have been crucified)
I should have suffered and died
I should have hung on that cross in disgrace
But Jesus, God's son, took my place
A crown of thorns a spear deep in His side
And all the pain that should have been yours and mine
Those rusty nails were meant just for me
Oh but Christ took them and then let me go free
But I should have been crucified
(I should have been crucified)
I should have suffered and died
I should have hung on that old cross in disgrace
But Jesus, God's son, took my place
Your friend,
Pastor
