Our Scripture reading today is 1 Samuel 30:6, "And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God."

The future king of Israel was in quite the predicament.  The people that he was supposed to be leading wanted to kill him.  They were grieving and were taking it out on David.  He was able to find encouragement in the LORD his God.  He remembered all that God had done for him and promised him.  This was enough to revive him enough to continue another day.

Possibly you find yourself in a similar situation today.  You are distressed over some relationship in your life.  It might be family or even a work problem that is causing you to be discouraged.  Now is the time to find strength and encouragement in the LORD your God.  Remember all that He has done for you.  Remember the promises found in His Word.  He is faithful to fulfill each and everyone of them.  If you will meditate on the goodness of God, it will give you the encouragement you need.
