Our Scripture reading today is Matthew 25:23, "His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord."
The statement, "Faithful over a few things," is of great importance in our lives today. We, too, should strive too be like the servants who received five and two talents. These servants were faithful with what they were given. What abilities and talents has God given you? Are you being faithful with it? It is easy to get into the trap of comparing what we have been given to what others have been given. The Bible tells us this is unwise. 2 Corinthians 10:12, "For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise."
Each and every day that God gives us breath, we should be determined to be faithful with the blessings He has bestowed upon us. Your list of blessings may not be mine and vice versa, but everyone of God's children can and ought to be faithful. I love what Mr. Spurgeon said about this text, "“It is not ‘Well done, thou good and brilliant servant;’ for perhaps the man never shone at all in the eyes of those who appreciate glare and glitter. It is not, ‘Well done, thou great and distinguished servant;’ for it is possible that he was never known beyond his native village.”
Make today a faithful day by being filled with the Spirit of God and following His leading.
