Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 46:1-3.

Verse 2, "Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;"

In case we forgot, God reminds us that His help is ever present with us.  Help is not only on the way, it is "very present" for the child of God.  As we allow this promise to strengthen us to live one more day, we come to verse two.  The Psalmist gives us a challenge to avoid living in fear.  There is no reason for God's family to live in fear.  Do I get fearful?  Unfortunately, I do.  Do you get fearful?  Everyone old enough to read this devotional would have to say, yes.  The fact that we do experience fear from time to time is no reason to roll over and just continue living that way.

I really like what verse 7 tells us, "The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah."  God is with us today.  God was with us yesterday.  God will be with us tomorrow.  How much more confidence can we get knowing this truth?  The promise in Isaiah 40:29 goes right along with our theme today, "He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength."  The only One Who can help us through this day and every day is our Heavenly Father.  It would be a wise choice to lean on His everlasting arms today!
