Our Scripture reading today is Romans 5:1-2.
Verse 1, "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:"
Everything we have in this life and in the life to come is anchored to the Lord Jesus. We live in a world full of fear and turmoil and yet we have hope in Jesus Christ. This world is not our eternal home. We are considered strangers and pilgrims. Hebrews 11:13, "These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth." As a result of being justified by faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ, Heaven is our eternal home. Praise the Lord!
In addition to our eternal home being secured, we are at peace with God. Jesus Christ sacrificial death and glorious resurrection made it so we are no longer enemies. Ephesians 2:16, "And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:" When God sees us, He sees the righteousness of His Son. The robe we now wear provides peace with God. Isaiah 61:10, "I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels."
Our Lord Jesus provided us peace with the Father and an eternal home in Heaven. These are definitely reasons to rejoice today!
