Our Scripture reading today is 2 Timothy 4:6-8.
Verse 7, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:"
The Apostle Paul is writing from prison. He is also not far from his eternal home in Heaven. Imagine for a few moments all that he might have been thinking about. Quite possibly he was reminiscing about the day of his salvation and of course rejoicing in the grace of God. More than likely he would be thinking about the missionary journeys and all the churches that were planted along the way. This too would only have been possible by the grace of God. There would have been much more to praise God for in Paul's life.
We see a three-fold biographical sketch in verse 7. As I read this passage again this morning, I am asking the Lord to help me to be able to say the same thing Paul said. In order to have this testimony, we cannot wait until the end of our lives to be faithful. We must be faithful now. We cannot wait until the end of our lives to enter the service of the King. We must serve Him now. This is the day to fight, finish, and keep the faith and give God all the glory for it.
