Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 19:8-11.
Verse 10, "More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb."
How much do we truly desire the Word of God? No doubt, we have many desires in our life. Do these desires bring us closer to God or cause us to drift away from God? Once we determine that; it is imperative that we act accordingly. Any desire that is not pointing me to a close walk with God needs to be crucified. These desires need to be labeled as hindrances to my spiritual growth.
Once the desires that are taking me away from Him are dealt with, it is much simpler to desire what draws me closer to Him. In today's Scripture, the Psalmist is challenging the reader to desire God's Word more than financial gain. It is true that we need finances, but our desire should be pointed to the truth we find in God's Word. May God help us to be guided by His Word each and every day.
