Our Scripture reading today is 1 John 3:14-18.
Verse 14, "We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death."
Verse 18, "My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth."
The Apostle John reveals to us one of the ways we have the assurance of our salvation. It is directly related to our love for the family of God. Our love for other Christians is evidence that God's Spirit dwells within us.
This love is internal, but it should be demonstrated on the external. How are we letting the family of God know that we love them? Our God is the greatest example of demonstrating love. John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that he gave..." Romans 5:8, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Someone once said, "You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving.
Ask God to give you a greater love for your brothers and sisters in Christ and then look for opportunities to demonstrate that love.
