Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 106:13-15.
Verse 13, "They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:"
The context of these verses is in reference to the nation of Israel after they were delivered from bondage in Egypt. It did not take long for them to forget how God miraculously brought them out of Egypt. Who had ever seen a series of 10 plagues like they had seen? Also, the fact that the plagues did not affect them. There was no doubt God was at work through the plagues. Unfortunately, we read that the people soon forgot about God's provision.
Have you forgotten the mighty works of God in your life? If it can happen to Israel, it can happen to you and me. Part of the reason we forget so quickly is that we are not content with what God has given us. We want more and more and more. The Apostle Paul writes a short by very important statement in 1 Timothy 6:6, "But godliness with contentment is great gain." In my opinion, to be content is to also be thankful. When we are thankful, we are remembering Who God is and what He has provided for us.
Don't allow your "wanter" to take away from the praise and thanksgiving that our God deserves!
