Our Scripture reading today is Proverbs 25:11-12.
Verse 11, "A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver."
When we are able to say the right word at the right time there are many blessings that will follow. This can only take place as we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. He will guide us to speak the truth in love. Isaiah 50:4, "The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned." The word, fitly, has to do not only with the what we say but also with when we say it.
It is true that the tongue is a very small member of our body. This small member must be used to glorify God and encourage the family of God. It must be used to speak of Jesus Christ to a lost and hell-bound world. We need to yield our tongues to the Lord each and every day. By God's grace, we can construct something beautiful with our tongue like golden apples. Build someone up today!
