Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 24:3-6.
Verse 4, "He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully."
In order to enter into the presence of our holy God, we are challenged by the Psalmist to be pure on the inside and out. It all starts in the heart and will work its way to the hands. The Word of God is the cleaning agent that we need to keep us pure. In John 15:3, Jesus Christ said, "Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you." Today, we have the completed written Word of God to keep us clean and win any spiritual battle we face. Unfortunately, many Christians spend so little time in the Word that the world is winning in their lives. D. L. Moody said, "The Bible will keep you from sin or sin will keep you from the Bible."
Our clean hands and heart are what give us the much needed access to the presence and power of God. The devil is constantly seeking to kill and destroy. In our flesh, we are no match for our enemy. Dirty hands and heart will lead to our being defeated each and every time. Take time today to meditate on and quote Psalm 51:10, "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me."
