Our Scripture reading today is Luke 1:3-4.
Verse 4, "That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed."
Luke wanted Theophilus as well as others to have all the facts. Luke, being a doctor, would have been someone who definitely paid attention to detail. It was important to him that his readers be certain regarding the instructions they were receiving. These were not ultimately Luke's writings, but they were and are the words of God.
We can be certain (fixed or settled) that when we are reading God's Word, we are reading an inspired (God-breathed) and infallible (without error) book. There is no other book like the Bible. Once we settle this in our heart, it is time to start obeying what we read in the Word of God. The Bible is not just a book of information; it is a book of transformation. If we read it with a willingness to obey it, it will change our lives. We can be certain of that!
