Our Scripture reading today is Luke 15:25-28.

Verse 28, "And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him."

Not everyone at home was excited to see the prodigal had returned.  There was someone who wanted nothing to do with the celebration that was taking place.  The older son was working hard in the field and had not lived the life a prodigal.  The older son had been submissive to his father.  While outwardly, he looked the part.  Inwardly there was definitely some issues that needed to be resolved.

It is very difficult to handle anger properly.  The older son is an example of someone who did not succeed at handling anger in the right way.  I would suggest that we are better off when we allow God to handle being angry the right way.  For most of us, anger leads us down a path that we are not prepared to get off of before we hurt too many people.  Romans 12:19, "Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord."
