Our Scripture reading today is Luke 15:12-13.
Verse 13, "And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living."
The younger son wasted all that his father had given to him. The dictionary definition of wasted is "unprofitably used". It was bad enough that he asked for his portion of the inheritance before his father had passed away. It was as if he wished his father were dead. Then, he goes and spends it all with no profit to show for it.
Think with me for a moment. Your heavenly Father has given you everything. The life you have is a gift from God. What are you doing with this precious gift? Are you being a good steward of your life or is it being wasted? I believe it is something we should all consider. Is my life bringing glory or shame to the name of the LORD?
