Our Scripture reading today is Deuteronomy 33:26-29.
Verse 27, "The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them."
Quite often during the winter here in Vancouver, we have to find shelter when it rains.  It might be an umbrella or an over hang of a building.  Just yesterday morning, I waited in my car until the hail lightened up before heading into my office.  The Bible word for what I am referring to is a refuge.  It is a dwelling place, a den, a place where animals dwell.  The black bears are preparing to head into their refuge for a long nap.
Moses gives us some very encouraging news.  God is our refuge!  We can dwell with the creator God.  He is our security and protection.  As His children, we have nothing to fear.  "For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee." (Isaiah 41:13)  When the storms of life swirl around us, we must stay under our refuge.  Many are tempted to walk away from the shelter when they need it most.  Trust in the plan of God.  He will give the victory!
