Our Scripture reading today is Luke 14:1-5.

Verse 1, "And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him."

It mattered not where Jesus went, people were watching Him intently now to see what He might do or say.  Word had definitely spread regarding His miracles and the controversial things He was teaching.  All eyes were fixated on His every move.  Even though their disputes were many, Jesus was still cared for and loved the Pharisees.  This is demonstrated by His willingness to fellowship in one of their homes.

We can learn something from the Pharisees when it comes to the importance of who we are watching.  While they were watching Jesus to scrutinize His work, we can be watching Jesus, so we know how to follow the Father.  John 8:29, "And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him." Jesus is the perfect example we have to follow in every area of life.  As we read and meditate on the Word of God, we are watching to see how we can grow in His grace.
