Our Scripture reading today is Ezekiel 22:30, "And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none."

There wasn't any man to intercede on the behalf of a godless society.  No one who was willing to pray the price to hold back God's judgement.  We read of Moses and others doing this at other times.  There was a formula laid out for the nation of Israel in 2 Chronicles 7:14 and it still applies to us today.  "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

A restoration can be seen in a nation and even in a family if someone would stand in the gap and follow the instructions of the verse mentioned in Chronicles.
