Our Scripture reading today is Ephesians 2:8-10.
Verse 10, "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
Biblical salvation is only through Jesus Christ. It is by God's grace through faith. There is no work great enough that you or I can perform to merit the forgiveness of our sins. We deserve to pay for our sins by going to Hell for all eternity. God's love allowed His Son, Jesus Christ to pay the penalty for our sins by dying on the cross. Jesus is THE way to eternal life in Heaven.
Once we are saved, there is a new way that we should walk. This new way of walking involves good works. Every day that we live, we are to strive to walk in the works that God saved us to do. We were not saved simply to miss the fires of Hell. Each child of God is to use his or her life to bring honour and glory to God. The love of God that saves us also changes us. We have a new life in order that we might please God and point others to this new way of walking. "Our new life is as truly created out of nothing as were the first heavens, and the first earth." (Spurgeon)
Have a wonderful day!
