Our Scripture reading today is Philippians 2:10-11.
Verse 10, "That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;"
There are a couple different ways we can apply these verses to our lives. First, whether voluntary or involuntary, every knee will bow to the Lord Jesus. It does not mean everyone is going to be saved and go to Heaven. “Paul does not imply by this a universal salvation, but means that every personal being will ultimately confess Christ’s lordship, either with joyful faith or with resentment and despair.” (Kent)
After we come to Jesus Christ for salvation, what will it take for us to bow our knee to God? As we bow our knee, we are surendering to the will of God for our lives. Why would I want to have my own way with my life? Why would I think I can do a better job with my life than the One Who created me? The answer to these questions can be found in one word...PRIDE! If we are bowing to pride, we will not surrender to the LORD. If we are surrendering to our plans, we will miss out on His perfect plan. It would be wise to allow our loving Heavenly Father to lead us in the way that we should go. Surrender to Him today!
