Our Scripture reading today is 1 Peter 2:11, "Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;"

When we recognize and understand that this world we are living in is not our final home, it will help us to have desires that are pleasing to the Lord.  We will stay away from things that only offer pleasure for a season.  We will limit ourselves from spending our finances on things that have no eternal value.

I am thankful more every day that world is not my home.  There might be wealth, power, and fame in this world, but there is no satisfaction.  The philosophy of this world is going for more and more.  It cannot satisfy like a walk with God satisfies.   It cannot satisfy like serving the Lord satisfies.  Live your temporal life for the eternal and give God all the glory.
