Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 61:3, "For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy."
The psalmist is making it known that his security is in the LORD. There are other people and places he could have found it, but he is relying on Him for his protection. He has enemies that want to harm him. God promised and did look after His safety. Notice he is writing in past tense. It already happened.
We are promised this same "security detail". God is with us in the Person of the Holy Spirit. There are enemies seeking to do us harm. Our peace and safety are in the very capable hands of the LORD. His strength becomes our strength. We, too, have already seen God be our shelter and strong tower. He is with us today and everyday.
