Our Scripture reading today is Hosea 6:3, "Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth."
God has given us two entities to know Him better. He gave us the Word of God and the Spirit of God. When someone is born again, God gives them His Spirit to in dwell them until they are called to Heaven or the Rapture. The Spirit of God is the part of the Godhead Who wrote the Bible. 2 Peter 1:21, "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."
As children of God, it is our choice as to how much we know about God and how close we get to God. God gave us the tools. It is up to us to use them. James 4:8, "Draw nigh to God and he will draw nigh to you." Our knowledge of God is determined by how much attention we give to the Word of God. God is not hiding from us. He has clearly revealed Himself through His Word.
