Our Scripture reading today is Romans 1:16, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."
The Gospel message has power available to all who believe. It is not for just one people group. It is not for everyone. This verse of Scripture reminds us, however, that not everyone will be in Heaven. The key that unlocks the power of the Gospel is belief. We might also call it faith. ALL those who believe they need a Saviour are qualified for the power of the Gospel. Acts 16:31, "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."
When a lost sinner believes in the Lord Jesus Christ for their salvation, the power of the Gospel does a work of transformation. The Gospel makes us all brand new. We are no longer a slave to sin. We are no longer a child of the devil. This is the power of the Gospel. It is vital that we share this message with as many people as possible.
