Our Scripture reading today is Jeremiah 5:25, "Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you."
While we will never arrive at a place of sinless perfection, the follower of Jesus Christ should be sinning less. The more time we spend in the Word of God, the more the Spirit will use God's Word to cleanse our minds. A cleaner mind leads to a cleaner life. God, in turn, blesses those who are doing right with good things.
The motivation to live a holy life should not be the good things that God will give us. Our motivation should be a love for God and bringing Him glory. It is very disheartening to see someone who claims to be a follower of Jesus Christ living like the lost world he was saved out of. Christians ought to live differently because they recognize how much God loves them and they want to show Him their love by living holy lives.
