Our Scripture reading today is Mark 14:8, "She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying."
John's Gospel (chapter 12) tells us that this lady who anointed Jesus was Martha's sister, Mary. Jesus death was not far away and this was a way of preparing Him symbolically for His burial. The opening statement of the verse is one that can be applied to our lives today. Have we done what we could for our Saviour? He has provided us with the greatest gift ever given - eternal life! Surely, we can and should do all that we can for Him.
You do not need to look around and try and do what others are doing. You should do what you can and what God has enabled you to do. Paul wrote in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Don't allow apathy to creep in and stop you from serving the Lord. Keep doing what you can!
