Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 51:17, "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise."

When our spirit breaks, so does our will.  There seem to be fewer and fewer young people talking about going to Bible college.  If we are not careful, we will watch a generation of young people who never allow their spirit to break.  “If you and I have a broken spirit, all idea of our own importance is gone. What is the use of a broken heart? Why, much the same as the use of a broken pot, or a broken jug, or a broken bottle!” (Spurgeon)

Many youth have their plans in place for life and God's will wasn't even considered.  I highly recommend every young person go to Bible for one year before starting his or her career path.  God can and will do so much preparation in the heart of that teenager while at Bible college.  We parents need to set an example of a broken spirit.  Have you surrendered your will?
