Our Scripture reading today is Isaiah 9:6-7.
Verse 6, "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."
The peace the world needs will never be found in having more and more things. True and lasting peace will only come through the Prince of Peace, the Lord Jesus Christ. Hundreds of years before His birth in the manger, the prophet Isaiah tells of His coming. He not only tells us that He is coming, but that His impact will be magnificent.
Jesus Christ spoke of the peace He gives in John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." This inner peace will carry us through the most difficult of days. It cannot prevent the storms of life from coming, but it will faithfully stay beside us in those storms. The peace of the Lord Jesus drives all fear out of our lives. Philippians 4:7, "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
Do you have HIS peace today?
