Our Scripture reading today is John 18:35-37.
Verse 37, "Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice."
What is the cause of Jesus Christ? The word, cause, in this verse is referring to His coming to earth to make His appearance. We spoke recently of His pre-incarnation and virgin birth. The Lord Jesus left the glories of Heaven to introduce the world to Truth. John 14:6, "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of the plan of redemption. He came to be our sacrifice. He came to do the will of His Father. Luke 22:42, "Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done."
What is the cause for your life? The Word of God clearly defines our purpose for living to bring glory to our Creator. God created us to bring Him glory. 1 Corinthians 10:31, "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." Revelation 4:11, "Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." God has given us this day and every day to bring glory to His name. He loves us with an everlasting love that will never change and we have the privilege of being called by His Son's name: Christian.
Jesus Christ fulfilled His cause enabling us to fulfill ours. Praise the LORD!
