Our Scripture reading today is Colossians 2:4-6.
Verse 5, "For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ."
The Apostle Paul commends the Christians at Colosse for their order and streadfast faith. The word, stedfastness, means firm and solid. The key to this type of faith is where the faith is placed. It would have been difficult and not wise to place their faith in Paul. He was not with them. They chose to have their faith placed in Jesus Christ.
We have a similar decision to make every day. Where will be place our faith? If our faith is to be stedfast, it must be placed in Jesus Christ. He never fails! The faith I am referring to is not limited to saving faith. Although that is the way we join God's family. As sinners we are saved by God's grace through faith. There is a great need for stedfast faith on a daily basis. This day is a gift from God and He will supply everything I need. This trial is a gift from God and He will go with me all the way through it. How can we say and mean such statements? Only when our faith is stedfast in Jesus Christ. Seek God's help today fro stedfast faith!
