Our Scripture reading today is Luke 22:3-6.

Verse 5, "And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money."

What a sad commentary about someone who was willing to be bought to betray the Son of God.  This man had heard all of His teaching and seen His miracles.  Yet, the teaching and the miracles seemed to mean nothing to Judas Iscariot.

I wonder how many Christians today are being led away from the Lord Jesus by the riches of this world.  How many have almost completely stopped attending church because of work.  While there may be different circumstances, it is very clear that too many have stopped being a Christian and for sure serving the Lord because of money.  Where we spend our time and money shows who and what we truly love.  If we have little to no time for God and we give little to no money to God, it should be a cause of concern for us.

God loved us so much that He provided eternal life through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  This alone should be motivation enough to live every day for His glory!
