Our Scripture reading today is Luke 16:24, "And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame."
When he was alive, the rich man lived in the nicest place money could buy. His money had no impact on where he ended up when he died. Our verse for today puts him in a place of great torment. He had lived it up while on earth only to end up in Hell. This descendent of Abraham did not have the same faith and ended being the poorest man in this story.
This will be the story of many people in our day. They have everything they need and do not have time for God. Riches do not send anyone to Hell, but a rejection of God and His love will. There may be family members and friends that we know are headed to this place of torment. Let's take time today to pray for them to be confronted in some way with their sin. Let's take time today to pray that they would humble themselves and turn to Jesus Christ for salvation. He is not willing that any should perish.
