Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 9:9-10, "The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee."
Possibly you have felt forsaken at some point in your life. It might have even been by someone who was supposed to love you and or take care of you. It is possible to feel forsaken by God, but the Psalmist penned some very encouraging words in reference to not being forsaken by the LORD. He refers to the LORD as our refuge. A refuge is a place of safety and shelter. Psalm 46:1, 7, 11, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah."
Whether oppressed or in a season of difficulty, we can confidently trust in the LORD today! He is our faithful deliverer and refuge. We can rest in knowing that God is always ahead of us and will be with us every step of the way. Deuteronomy 31:8, "And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed." God is faithful!
