Our Scripture reading today is Matthew 28:18-20.
Verse 20, "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."
The disciples had walked with Jesus Christ for three years and then watched Him be crucified. This sure seemed like a major defeat. All of the miracles and wonders they saw Jesus Christ perform only to end like this? Three days later, everything changed. Jesus Christ arose from the dead!
He was and always will be victorious. After spending time with His disciples and many other people, He leaves them with a promise, "Lo, I am with you alway." The adverb, alway, carries with it the idea of the whole of every day. Jesus Christ is never going to be crucified again. He is never going to leave again. This promise continues today to every born again child of God. Hebrews 13:5, "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."
It is a wonderful privilege to know that we are not alone in the work of God. 1 Corinthians 3:9, "For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building." He provides the power we need to be the witness He saved us to be. His strength is perfect and His presence is forever!
