Our Scripture reading today is 1 Peter 1:18-19, "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:"
The world has always been filled with people who try to earn their way into a relationship with God. It is a religious system that people try and follow. Any religious system will not lead to Heaven. Jesus Christ, God's Son, willingly left the glories of Heaven to bleed and die on an old rugged cross. His precious blood provides the way that leads to a relationship with God. Peter writes that we were redeemed by the precious blood of Christ.
This reminder of how much it cost for God to redeem us should motivate us to live our lives for His glory. We should follow the example of our Saviour by humbling ourselves and serving Him. He is worthy of any and all sacrifices we can make for His kingdom.
