Our Scripture reading today is John 1:14, "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."

God came to us!  He searched for sinners like you and me.  The Lord Jesus took on flesh in order to be close to us.  He was tempted like us, yet He never sinned.  The Son of God made it possible for all sinners to be redeemed and live in the presence of the Father.  His precious blood was the cleansing necessary for us to bring our praises and petitions to the throne of God.  Hebrews 4:16, "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."

“If God has come to dwell among men by the Word made flesh let us pitch our tents around: this central tabernacle; do not let us live as if God were a long way off.” (Spurgeon)
