Our Scripture reading today is Joshua 1:5-7.
Verse 7, "Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest."
The new leader of the children of Israel was given the secret to living a prosperous life. It really isn't a secret, but some of the people lived as if it was then and now. The same promise has been given to each of us. If we obey the commandments found in God's Word, we will be prosperous and successful.
It is quite sad to see so many people who claim to be Christians walk away from the Word of God. For years, they heard God's Word preached, but now live as if that never happened. They walk away from assembling together with God's family. They never open the Word of God. We need God's Word to be our guiding light in a very dark world. We need God's Word to help us live a courageous Christian life. The promises of God's Word are for us today!
