Today's Scripture reading is Ephesians 2:1-3.
Verse 1 - "And you hath he quickened..."
The word quickened means to be made alive. At one time, every one is dead in his or her sins. After we, by faith, receive Jesus Christ as our personal Saviour we are made alive. Jesus Himself said it this way in John 3:7, "...ye must be born again." This quickening can only come through Jesus Christ. He provided the payment for our sin. (See Romans 5:8)
This life that Jesus Christ bought for us should be invested for His glory. This life that we have been given ought to be dedicated to His will. 1 Corinthians 6:19, "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?" My new life isn't for my glory and honour. The quickening that was given to me was given to allow me to worship the Lord and witness to others who still need to be quickened.
