Our Scripture reading today is Ephesians 1:6, "To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved."
How are sinners bound for Hell able to be forgiven and set free? How are those same sinners able to be favoured by God? The Apostle Paul points us to the word, "grace". The grace of God is needed in order to be forgiven and the grace of God is needed for our daily living. God's grace provides things for us that we do not deserve. Romans 6:23 tells us what sinners deserve, "For the wages of sin is death..." Ephesians 2:8 tells us how we are saved from this death, "For by grace are ye saved..." Also Romans 5:15, "But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many."
We cannot glory in anything we have done or will do in service for God. It is all because of His amazing grace. The Apostle John emphasizes this as well in 1 John 4:9, "In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Our life is to be lived through the Lord Jesus. Without Him, we are nothing. By the grace of God, we can live today and every day in victory!
