Our Scripture reading today is Leviticus 20:7-8, "Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God. And ye shall keep my statutes, and do them: I am the LORD which sanctify you."
Our salvation has been fully provided for us through the death, burial and resurrection of God's Son. The sinless One became sin that sinners might have eternal life. We cannot earn our way to God. Jesus makes it very clear that He is the way, the truth and the life.
This does not mean we will continue to live in a way that fulfills the flesh. When we turn to Jesus Christ for salvation, the Spirit of God takes up residence in our life. This will lead to changes taking place in how we live our lives. There will be a desire to obey our new Father. Yes, there will still be a desire to obey our old father too. Only now, we have the power from God's Spirit to say, no, to the world, the flesh and the devil.
If you have little to no desire to follow God's way, I would check to see that my salvation is genuine. God's Spirit will always lead us to keep His commands and there will be a desire to yield.
