Our Scripture reading today is Exodus 32:3-4.
Verse 4, "And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt."
It was not that long ago that these same people had seen the one true God split the Red Sea in two so they could walk across to the other side. They also saw the same God bring the waters of the sea down on the Egyptian army who were following after them to kill them. After a slight delay from Moses coming down off the mountain, they decided on worshipping a golden calf as the god who delivered them from Egypt?!? What a confused group of people.
There are several applications that could be made from these verses of Scripture. It would seem to me that a lack of patience led to a foolish decision. Had they waited a little longer on Moses this would not have happened. We are at times prone to be impatient people. This leads to making decisions that we regret later. Had we waited, it would not have turned out this way. It is a character quality we need to seek the Lord's help with every day.
