Our Scripture reading today is 1 Samuel 2:18, "But Samuel ministered before the LORD, being a child, girded with a linen ephod."
Samuel was in no way like Eli's sons. They were completely out of control and would not be blessed by God. Samuel prepared himself to be a servant of the LORD by serving as a child. God was getting Samuel ready for an ares of service beyond his imagination.
The sooner we surrender our lives to the LORD the better. It is also important that we encourage our children to do the same. Samuel's mother (Hannah) was definitely pointing him in the right direction.
Ecclesiastes 12:1, "Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;"
