Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 119:105, "They word is a lamp to my feet, and a light unto my path."
How would any of us know what to do and where to go without the Word of God? We have a spiritual lamp to guide our way. “Thus is our passage in a dark and perilous way irradiated by the lamp and light of the word. But except the lamp be lighted — except the teaching of the Spirit accompany the word, all is darkness — thick darkness. Let us not be content to read the word without obtaining some light from it in our understanding.” (Bridges)
How would we make it through the valleys of life without the promises and precepts we find in the Bible? God's Word is what we need when we feel like everything around us is dark and the darkness is closing in. It brings peace in the most challenging of days.
