Our Scripture reading today is Revelation 2:4, "Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love."
There was good found in the Ephesus church but there was a major problem. They chose to leave their first love. I would imagine this to be a love for God and for one another. When we don't love God as we should, we will not love another as we should. They always go together.
We can do everything we want to do but if it is without love, it is missing the most important ingredient. The greatest of these is love. “A church has no reason for being a church when she has no love within her heart, or when that love grows cold. Lose love, lose all.” (Spurgeon)
