Our Scripture reading today is Luke 19:38-40.
Verse 40, "And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out."
The praise of the Lord Jesus is taken to a new level. Now, even things without breath will and can praise Him if the disciples had not. As usual, the Pharisees were not impressed by the outburst of praise from those who were following Jesus Christ. They did not see Him as any kind of King and they felt no one else should as well. Jesus quickly informs them that even if His followers did not praise, the stones would. (See Psalm 148:7-13)
On this day, the stones did not cry out because the disciples were faithfully praising the Lord. What might they have been going through in their personal lives? What burdens might they have been carrying? We really have no way of knowing, but I am sure that those who were praising Him more than likely had difficulties that were weighing on their hearts. There really isn't anything that comes into our life that should keep us from giving God the praise He deserves. "Praise Him...Praise Him...all ye little children..."
