Our Scripture reading today is John 1:14, "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
God the Son became a man without ceasing to be God. “And tabernacled among us: the human nature which he took of the virgin, being as the shrine, house, or temple, in which his immaculate Deity condescended to dwell. The word is probably an allusion to the Divine Shechinah in the Jewish temple.” (Clarke) He left the glories and splendour of Heaven to live amongst fallen man for thirty three years. Jesus came for the sole purpose of being the sacrificial Saviour for the sins of all mankind. Matthew 1:21, "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins."
He was born to die and now He lives to intercede on our behalf.
